Southern African Wildlife College – The college is primarily an environmental training facility for conservationists from the rest of Africa. In 2007 WEI joined forces with the college to facilitate the implementation of short courses in conservation which are hosted at the college. These short courses provide valuable human resources for ongoing conservation work on the reserve, manpower for continued monitoring and research projects, and also contribute to core funding for the college.
The land on which the College is located belongs to WWF-SA, and the reserve property is managed by Kruger National Park as a contractual national park. In 2008 WEI and Operation Wallacea have agreed to work with the Peace Parks Foundation over the next 7 years to help gather baseline biodiversity and socio-economic data on the Greater Kruger National Park and the adjacent Limpopo Park in Mozambique. The objective is to develop a standardized monitoring system for a range of taxonomic groups and to then implement these survey strategies in different parts of the GLTFP and map the data on GIS so changes can be tracked in future years.
