Mozambique, Inhambane – The Mozambique coast is renowned for its exceptional marine life, beautiful reefs and pristine coastline. In 2008 WEI will establish a research center to assist local government, tourism operators, landowners and fishers with a long term biodiversity and reef monitoring programme on the 12km of reefs south east of Inhambane. Specialist marine biologists and scientists will assist the local management body to assess the effectiveness of its marine conservation policies, make best practice recommendations and provide long term monitoring data on the reefs.
